About

Italian OBOR Institute

The Italian OBOR Institute, founded by Michele De Gasperis, has a widespread organization in China and Italy, with its main offices in Rome and Beijing and around 30 staff members in the main Chinese and Italian cities.

Our mission is to network experiences and contributions of the several Italian stakeholders involved or interested in the Chinese economic development plan “One Belt One Road”/”Belt and Road Initiative”, with the aim of representing Italy's role within the program and highlighting the opportunities for commercial cooperation that can be developed between Italy and the People’s Republic of China.

The Italian OBOR Institute has a network consisting mainly of institutions, universities and research centres. This network is the Institute’s Study Center, through which it relates to private companies. To these, the Institute provides assistance in identifying cooperation opportunities with Chinese counterparts within the OBOR program, in carrying out missions in China and in welcoming Chinese delegations in Italy, as well as in collecting statistical data and regulatory material on the Italian-Chinese business. The Institute trains its Italian members to have a conscious and global approach to the opportunities of One Belt One Road program. The same goes for the Chinese counterparts, to which the OBOR Italian Institute shows the strengths of the Italian market, guiding them towards the most suitable and advantageous business methods for their business.

Our organization

Management Committee: organizes and coordinates the Institute's activities, providing support to its members.
Study Center: a network gathering institutions and private members of the Institute.

The Study Center

The OBOR Italian Institute, with its Study Center, is aimed at Italian and Chinese public institutions with the aim of identifying and gathering people and experiences to ensure that Italy has a more incisive role in this system, to govern rather than suffer it, and identify fields and methods through which Italy can increase its competitiveness and attract investments compared to other countries.
